The Brazilian put both his arms around the Mexican while West Ham were attacking a corner during the eventual 3-0 win for the Red Devils at Old Trafford but no foul was given, perhaps because Tomas Soucek still managed to force a save from United goalkeeper Andre Onana in the same action.

"I think there is a penalty in the first half," Moyes told a press conference after the game. "I use the word cupping, football doesn’t allow it but it sounds like you can do that so I will have to coach my players to cup.

"If you put your two arms around you can’t go anywhere. That is rugby. You are not allowed to grab them and say you are not allowed to move."

West Ham spurned some good chances in the game, particularly when Emerson Palmieri spooned a shot over the bar from inside the area after robbing Harry Maguire. The Hammers had 22 shots on goal compared to United's 12 but only hit the target three times.

They have now failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions.

United are unbeaten in five matches in all competitions for the first time this season and will look to build on their positive momentum when they visit Aston Villa next Sunday, hoping to close the gap to Unai Emery's side for fourth spot in the Premier League.
