Another Rooney to star for Man Utd? Kai inherits Wayne’s goal touch as teenager boasts about latest scoring exploits

The youngster, who is still just 14 years of age, has a long way to go before he can claim to have emulated the exploits of his dad. He is, however, continuing to shine within the academy ranks at Old Trafford.

Rooney junior claimed to have registered 56 goals and 28 assists back in 2021-22, with that haul including a four-goal salvo against Liverpool and a vital effort in a 2-0 victory over Manchester City that helped United to U13 National Cup North Final glory.

He is back on the goal trail for 2024, following an enforced break, with any rust from a lengthy spell out of action quickly shaken. Kai has revealed on his personal Instagram account that he netted twice and teed up two more efforts for grateful team-mates in a 6-0 mauling of Leeds.

Kai’s efforts are giving Wayne something to cheer following his sacking at Birmingham – with the former England captain lasting just 83 days and 15 games in the St Andrew’s dugout. He is being given time to watch his son in action, with it possible that Kai could one day look to chase down his father’s record-setting tally of 253 competitive goals for United.
