Revealed: Vinicius Junior contract request that could see Real Madrid star turn down new deal with La Liga champions in favour of move to Saudi Arabia

In recent weeks, Los Blancos have reached out to the winger to assess his contract expectations, with the club eager to secure his long-term future. However, negotiations remain at an early stage, and should they fail to meet his terms, alternative options are being considered.

Saudi Arabian clubs, who have long been monitoring Vinicius, are reportedly ready to table an astronomical offer. It has been reported that Madrid could receive a transfer proposal up to €400 million (£335m/$431m), while Vinicius himself would be in line for an unprecedented €1 billion (£837m/$1.1bn) contract, making it the biggest deal in football history.

According to Cadena Ser, despite the eye-watering sums being proposed by Saudi clubs, Vinicius has reportedly set conditions if he were to consider moving, he would like to sign a shorter deal, spanning two to three years instead of the standard five-year contracts commonly handed to top players.

This arrangement would enable him to earn an astronomical sum while still retaining the option to return to European football in the prime years of his career. Saudi officials and Vinicius’ representatives have already met in Prague earlier this year, but whether they are willing to agree to a short-term contract remains uncertain.

It has also been reported that as part of his demands, Vinicius is seeking a significant salary boost, asking for €20m (£17m/$22m) per year, which is 33 per cent higher than his current earnings of €15m (£13m/$16m) - a figure matched by Kylian Mbappe. The forward emphasised his desire to continue playing for Madrid and if the club meets his financial expectations, he is expected to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond 2027.

Speaking to reporters, the 24-year-old said: "I am very calm because I have a contract until 2027 and I hope I can renew it as soon as possible because I am happy here. Everyone loves me and likes me very much. I couldn't be in a better place than here. I am here to continue the story, everything that the president and the club have given me. I hope I can continue scoring more goals and playing more games with this shirt. I have won, but I can win much more and I can go down in the history of this club with so many great players who are legends."

Amid the contract speculation, Carlo Ancelotti’s side is fully focused on their La Liga campaign as they return to action on Sunday, hosting Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu.
