Revealed: Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah explains new ‘archer’ goal celebration – with Egyptian forward a big fan of UFC

The prolific Reds forward was on target as Arne Slot got his reign as Jurgen Klopp’s successor off to the perfect start in an opening day win at Ipswich. Salah netted Liverpool’s second of the game in a 2-0 victory at Portman Road.

Salah also hit the net in a 2-0 win over Brentford at Anfield, with the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner enjoying a productive start to the season. He has a new look, having shaved off his famous locks, and also has a fresh celebration.

Having taken to pulling arrows from an imaginary quiver and firing them into the crowd, Salah has told Men In Blazers of where his new routine comes from: “I was watching the UFC, Alex Pereira against Israel Adesanya and when [Adesanya] won the second fight against Pereira – he celebrated like that. So, I like the celebration and that’s why I did it.”

Salah will be hoping to have more cause for celebration when facing Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. The 32-year-old boasts an impressive record against the Red Devils, with 14 goals recorded through 15 appearances in league and cup competition.
