Revealed: Inter Miami confirm Lionel Messi & Luis Suarez squad numbers ahead of 2024 MLS season & glamour friendly with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr

The Herons captured a historic Leagues Cup crown in 2023 – a matter of weeks after eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi completed his stunning move to the United States – and the intention is to chase down more major silverware in the upcoming campaign.

Inter Miami have a number of friendly dates to take in before competitive action begins, with a busy schedule there set to include the club’s first international tour and glamour dates with the likes of Vissel Kobe, Newell’s Old Boys and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

It has been revealed on the club’s official website who will be wearing which number during those games, with it no surprise to find that Messi will be sticking with his favoured No.10 shirt. New arrival Suarez takes on No.9, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba remain in 5 and 18 respectively, while USMNT star Julian Gressel inherits No.24.

Inter Miami’s first pre-season outing of 2024, with Messi included in their travelling squad, will see them face El Salvador on Friday. They will then take on domestic rivals FC Dallas on Monday before heading to Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Japan – with Newell’s faced on home soil before the new MLS campaign gets underway on February 21.
