  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Real Madrid tasted defeat for the second time in the Champions League this season after turning in a poor performance in defeat to AC Milan. The result follows on from a 4-0 hammering by Barcelona in El Clasico and makes it back-to-back home defeats for the reigning Spanish and European champions. Los Blancos were expected to dominate at home and abroad again this season, particularly after signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG, but are instead struggling to impress in both competitions - leaving supporters stunned by the team's poor form.

  • WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

@thegr8vhiz posted on X: "Real Madrid have been outplayed by every single team they’ve played this season."

Madrid fan @LucasNavarreteM also had a damning verdict: "Real Madrid 2024-25 are not a good football team. Sample size is too big now for us to ignore. Just a non-elite football team."

And @Tgarratt10 wrote: "People are not ready for the chat about certain Real Madrid players. They look shocking."

Kylian Mbappe also came in for more criticism from @CFCMods: "Real Madrid signed the best player in the world and they became worse, this is diabolical man."

Meanwhile, a disappointed @WolfRMFC posted: "This Real Madrid team looks so so so LOST. I can’t believe what I’m seeing right now man. It’s not even like Milan has been good. Embarrassing."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Manager Carlo Ancelotti now his work cut out trying to turn his team's form around. Mbappe once again disappointed for Madrid, with the Frenchman yet to really find his feet in the Spanish capital, while Jude Bellingham is also yet to register a single goal for Los Blancos this season. There are also issues with the backline, as Ancelotti's side have already conceded 18 goals in 15 games this season in La Liga and the Champions League.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Real Madrid conceded nine shots on target against AC Milan, more than in any other Champions League group stage home game the 2003-04 season.
