The 18-year-old has struggled to secure regular playing time under the Italian coach, prompting him to consider a move away from the Spanish capital. Real Madrid are open to his departure, provided they retain control over his future. A loan or a transfer with a buy-back option seems to be the most likely outcome. The club sees Guler as a potential future star but believes he needs more playing time to develop, preferentially at a Champions League-playing club, which he is unlikely to get at Madrid.

Guler will be hoping to earn some minutes when Real Madrid visit the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium to take on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday, March 12.
