According to Fabrizio Romano, Hojlund's overriding desire is to stay at Old Trafford. A sale isn't completely off the table, but the Danish striker is only expected to change his mind if United decide to advance talks to push him towards a new club.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Having scored a respectable 10 Premier League goals in his debut season in England, Hojlund only managed four in 2024-25. His struggles were characteristic of an extremely disappointing for the whole squad, but the Dane has taken more than his fair share of criticism given the hefty price tag he joined for in 2023. As it stands, United have spent big money on Matheus Cunha and are still trying to bring in Bryan Mbeumo, but neither would be considered a direct replacement for Hojlund in the number nine role.
DID YOU KNOW?
Inter are described by Romano as having been "keen for weeks", but a potential transfer to the Serie A giants is on "standby" for at least the time being. It was Hojlund's previous spell in Italy, with Atalanta, that brought him to prominence in the first place.

WHAT NEXT FOR HOJLUND?
Pre-season at Manchester United started on Monday, a chance for Ruben Amorim to put his stamp on things without the distraction of wall-to-wall fixtures. For Hojlund, it is a big one too, having never had the opportunity to lay the groundwork since he joined. The Dane was carrying a back injury when he first arrived in 2023, and suffered a hamstring problem last summer. Both times, he missed the start of the season as a result.
