Rasmus Hojlund signals he's open to Man Utd exit as AC Milan grow confident of sealing transfer despite Red Devils' €45m request

Hojlund has emerged as a top target for AC Milan, with the club intensifying efforts to bring the Danish striker back to Italy. Following the swift acquisition of Koni De Winter, Milan are now focused on bolstering their attack. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Hojlund is open to a move to San Siro, especially after Manchester United signaled — via his agency — that he no longer figures in their plans.

In recent days, Milan have stepped up contact with Hojlund and received a positive response from the striker. The Dane is reportedly intrigued by the prospect of joining the Rossoneri, a significant development that signals his openness to a potential return to Serie A. The former Atalanta forward was determined to fight for a spot despite the arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, but Ruben Amorim is believed to not have a lot of faith in Hojlund. Consequently, Hojlund has accepted that he doesn't have a future at Old Trafford and would like to join Milan, with no natural No. 9 managing to nail a spot in Massimiliano Allegri's XI so far. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old has also been offered to Bayern Munich in recent days.

Milan would like to close the deal in the next few days to avoid other clubs, perhaps Champions League contenders, from getting involved; this could happen if Hojlund gives his definitive "yes". In the meantime, Milan are working with United to reach an agreement: the formula, a loan with an option to buy, has already been agreed, but the figures have yet to be finalised.

Milan would like to pay €3-4 million for the loan and set the buyout at around €30-32m, while United are asking for more: €7-8m for the loan for a total deal of between €40m (£35m/$47m) and €45m (£39m/$53m) including bonuses. There is a gap in valuation, but the player's desire could make the difference.

Despite encouraging signs from Hojlund, AC Milan are preparing for all scenarios in case the deal falls through. The club are actively exploring alternatives, with Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson among the names on their radar. Milan also made inquiries about Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic following Francesco Camarda’s departure. Dusan Vlahovic remains a fan favourite, though his transfer fee and wages currently exceed Milan’s financial limits.
