  • WHAT HAPPENED?

In United's 2-1 comeback Europa League win on Thursday against the Czech Republic side, Hojlund scored twice in a big victory for Ruben Amorim's side. After the match, he said his second strike, from a Bruno Fernandes free-kick, was reminiscent of ex-Red Devils forward Martial's goal from a Fernandes set piece against Manchester City in 2020.

    WHAT RASMUS HOJLUND SAID

He told TNT Sports: "I have watched Bruno [Fernandes] do that before. I remember the goal with Anthony Martial when he did the chip for him. I just thought I had a good opportunity because I am strong, I could push the defender and spin him and finish."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

This result away from home lifted United into the top eight positions that would automatically see them qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League. After a couple of losses in the Premier League, this was a welcome win for Amorim's team. And having Hojlund in the goals again will be key to their success going forward.
