‘Please stop being a manager’ - Wayne Rooney gets brutal career advice from former Man Utd team-mate after Birmingham & Plymouth flops

Ex-England captain Rooney has filled four coaching roles since deciding to hang up his boots. The first of those saw him do a decent job in difficult circumstances at Derby, but relegation out of the Championship was still suffered.

Rooney then failed to guide D.C. United into the MLS play-offs before lasting just 83 days at Birmingham after being charged with the task of delivering on expectations at St Andrew’s by NFL legend Tom Brady and the rest of the Blues’ board.

Another flop was endured last time out at Plymouth, with just 25 games taken in there before agreeing to the mutual termination of his contract. The Pilgrims, along with League One table-toppers Birmingham, have fared better since relieving Rooney of his duties.

With that in mind, ex-United defender Evra has told ShootforLoveYT during a discussion with Park Ji-sung: “That's why they [Birmingham] get relegated. I said: 'No, please stop being a manager, it's not for you'. And he keeps going somewhere and gets sacked again... and when he leaves, they win.”

Rooney is yet to return to the dugout after walking away from Home Park. He has left himself open to offers, but United’s all-time leading goalscorer is enjoying the relatively stress-free life of punditry duty for now.
