  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Initially handed a four-year suspension for failing a doping test, Pogba saw his ban reduced to 18 months in October after a partially successful appeal to The Court of Arbitration for Sport. The ex-Manchester United and Juventus star saw his ban end in March, and is now on the lookout for his next club.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pogba has not featured in a professional match since September 2023, when the positive test during his time at Juventus triggered a long period on the sidelines. Now 32 years old, the midfielder has missed nearly two full seasons of football, a span that has understandably affected both his physical condition and market value. However, the World Cup winner now appears to be motivated once again and eager to step back onto the field - though he has yet to secure a deal with a new club.

  • WHAT SUTTON SAID

Amid speculation about where Pogba could land next, former Chelsea and Blackburn striker turned pundit Chris Sutton has offered a surprising suggestion: a move to Norwich City in the Championship. Speaking candidly about the midfielder’s options in an interview with BestBettingSites.co.uk, Sutton said: "I'd love to see Paul Pogba at Norwich City. Do I think his career is over? Well, he'd be a little fish in a big pond if he came to Norwich.

"I've got to say in truth, in recent seasons, he had had a doping issue, didn't he? So I think he missed a large chunk of football recently, and I think at his age that's really difficult when you're out for that long to come back and hit the heights which he once did."

He added: "He's such a talented player but I think he may believe he can still play at the highest level. I think that it would be really difficult for him to come back after so long. So he'll just have to drop down a little bit and still play at a high level with Norwich City at Carrow Road."

    WHAT NEXT FOR PAUL POGBA?

For now, Pogba remains a free agent, waiting for the right opportunity to return to football. With the summer transfer window approaching, clubs across Europe and beyond will no doubt weigh up whether the risk of signing him is worth the potential reward. Whether or not he takes Sutton’s advice remains to be seen - but one thing is clear: Pogba is not ready to call time on his career just yet.
