    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Three Lions skipper injured himself during Bayern Munich's 5-2 thrashing of Darmstadt last weekend, having to be brought off after colliding horribly with the post and landing awkwardly. While he remains part of the England set-up, Sky Sports has revealed that Kane is yet to step out on the grass. The Bayern forward has been restricted to his own individual conditioning program in the gym, with Sky noting he will "almost certainly" not be in the starting XI to face Brazil, if in the squad at all.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

While a blow for England and Kane, that opens up opportunities for the Three Lions' other aspiring forwards. Aston Villa star Watkins has been in the form of his life this season, starring in both the Premier League and Europa Conference League on his way to picking up a career-best 22 goals and 10 assists. Another option is Brentford man Ivan Toney, whose four goals reflect his late reintroduction following a lengthy betting ban.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Southgate has been hit with a myriad of injuries going into the March friendlies, with 12 absentees added to by a late Bukayo Saka withdrawal and now, potentially, Kane. Sky Sports notes that Jordan Henderson is also yet to step out onto the grass and remains a major doubt for Brazil, as he continues to receive treatment for an unnamed injury.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR ENGLAND?

While Kane's absence will be more sorely felt than Henderson's, the double blow means England will be without two key leadership figures when the five-time World champions come to town. Brazil are far from their flourishing best, however, with the South American giants in dismal form owing to a selection of key injuries and continued uncertainties at the helm.
