  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chelsea have also released a statement saying they will investigate the incident, but it is still likely going to cause internal issues in West London. Wesley Fofana publicly shamed Fernandez for his behaviour on social media and it is yet to be seen whether they can mend their relationship ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR CHELSEA?

Chelsea's pre-season tour starts in a matter of days but Fernandez is not due to join up with the squad for a while following his summer exploits with Argentina. The Blues will likely be in contact with the 23-year-old to discuss the next steps following the storm he caused online.
