  • WHAT HAPPENED?

On Saturday evening, West Ham looked set for their 10th Premier League win of the season to put them well clear of the relegation zone as they led 1-0 against an already-relegated Southampton, who did not look to have any fight left in them to draw level. However, the Hammers switched off in injury time and allowed Lesley Ugochukwu to score in the third minute of injury time, and allowed the Saints to take home one point from the clash.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fullkrug has missed major parts of the season for West Ham due to two different injuries; however, he has played in their last four league clashes. The Hammers are only placed 16th in the Premier League table as they have been winless in six games after the Southampton draw, and Fullkrug was not happy with the outcome of the clash at London Stadium.

  • WHAT FULLKRUG SAID

Speaking to the media, Fullkrug said: "It’s a mindset problem. I am very angry. Not disappointed, just angry for what we did after the goal. It was difficult to bring the boys back to push up. We didn't push up anymore. We tried, but we didn't have the ability or the motivation to push up again.

"I'm very, very angry that we played like this because we had some minutes where we showed what we can do against an opponent like that at home. We showed that we can have good possession, that we can go in behind and that we have the chances to score again. But the motivation, sorry, we were s*it. I'm very angry."

    WHAT NEXT FOR WEST HAM?

Graham Potter's side have not grabbed a win since February, and while 16th in the Premier League, they are in no threat of getting relegated this season. However, they will hope to return to winning ways next week when they take on Brighton.
