Matheus Cunha is Man Utd-bound! Red Devils strike deal to sign Wolves talisman & avoid paying £62.5m release clause up front

Per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have a verbal agreement in place to sign Wolves forward Matheus Cunha this summer. The Brazilian striker will sign a five-year contract that will be valid until June 2030. The club will also have an option to extend the deal until 2031.

The journalist further added that the Red Devils will not pay the £62.5 million ($83.4m) release clause up front but instead pay in instalments to Wolves. The club are expected to take formal steps to finalise the deal this week and offer a contract to the player.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Cunha will wear Marcus Rashford's No.10 jersey from next season. The decision has been taken with Rashford expected to seal a permanent move away from the club after an impressive six-month loan spell at Aston Villa.

After a nightmare 2024-25 campaign, Ruben Amorim will look to add more players to his team to build a competitive squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
