Massimiliano Allegri denies Adrien Rabiot talks amid Marseille fall out and insists he 'never asked' AC Milan to sign Dusan Vlahovic as Juventus striker remains in transfer limbo

Milan have had a busy transfer window since took over at the helm this window. Among the many candidates they have been linked to are two players who have already played under his leadership. Rabiot emerged as a possible signing amid his fallout with Marseille, while Vlahovic was reported to be a target as he looks to end his contract standoff with Juventus. Allegri, though, denies he has suggested the club sign either player.

Vlahovic has so far refused to leave Juve despite their desire to sell him because he refuses to extend his contract beyond its current 2026 expiry and accept a reduced salary. Rabiot, meanwhile, is in a precarious position as Marseille want to sell him following his physical altercation with Jonathan Rowe, though the player reportedly wants to stay at the Ligue 1 side.

As for Milan, saw another target escape their grasp as talks with Danish striker Conrad Harder of Sporting CP appear to have broken down. With Milan scrambling for reinforcements and Juve still holding firm on Vlahovic’s future, the Rossoneri find themselves in a tricky market situation. 

Pressed about Rabiot, Allegri was quick to downplay speculation, that he had not spoken to the French international: "No, absolutely not. We haven't spoken since before the holidays. I'm fond of Rabiot, but when he arrived at Juventus I left. He's a Marseille player, I can say I'm emotionally attached to him having worked together.

"I like Adrien Rabiot as a player, we have a good relationship as we spent time together at Juventus… but we didn’t talk recently."

On Vlahovic, he said: "No, I never asked for Vlahovic, also because he's a Juventus player. I've discussed his characteristics with the club, as well as the various situations that could arise. If players with different characteristics arrive, we'll do something."

For AC Milan, the hunt for attacking reinforcements continues. With Harder off the table and Vlahovic unwilling to budge, the Rossoneri must pivot quickly before the window closes. Allegri’s insistence that he “never asked” for Vlahovic suggests the club may turn to alternative profiles rather than pursue a high-cost striker. Meanwhile, the uncertainty around Rabiot is likely to rumble on, but barring a late breakthrough, he seems set to remain at Marseille, at least in the short term. As of now for the squad, the team needs a comeback as they set to face Lecce on Sunday, after an upsetting 1-2 loss against US Cremonese.
