THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 59-year-old heaped praise on Ter Stegen for his ability to play with the ball at his feet. He also mentioned that the goalkeeper will have clear instructions from him the next time the club take the field. While Flick has backed his player, it has to be noted that It was the Germany international's very poor ball through the middle of the field that caused Eric Garcia's 10th-minute red card.
WHAT HANSI FLICK SAID
Speaking to reporters, Flick said: "One of the strengths is being able to play with the ball at his feet, that's his style of play. He has admitted a mistake, but I make mistakes, you make mistakes, we all make mistakes, he's human. I hope that next time he has clear instructions, but for me it's water under the bridge."
