United went 2-0 up in the first half through Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot's strikes before conceding twice in a span of six minutes in the second half. They then fell 4-2 behind in extra-time before scoring three goals in the final six minutes of the match to seal a memorable 5-4 win over Lyon and book their berth in the Europa League last-four.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The historic comeback started in the 114th minute when captain Bruno Fernandes pulled one back from the penalty spot. Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire then scored back-to-back goals in the final minutes of the game to secure the victory. For the first time in the history of a major European competition, a club scored two goals in the 120th minute.
