Man Utd have done it! Bryan Mbeumo to join Red Devils in £71m deal after breakthrough in negotiations with Brentford

Manchester United have struck a deal with Brentford for Mbeumo worth up to £71m ($95.5m), with an initial £65m ($87.4m) to be paid in instalments and £6m ($8m) in bonuses as per The Athletic. The report has suggested that the transfer is now being finalised, with Mbeumo having made it clear that he preferred United over all other interested clubs. He will follow Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon in making the move to Old Trafford this summer.

Mbeumo’s arrival marks a key statement of intent from United as they continue their attacking rebuild. He contributed 20 goals and eight assists in 38 league games last season and adds proven Premier League quality. His consistent form at Brentford made him a priority target for United despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham.

Negotiations were protracted, with United seeing two bids rejected before meeting Brentford’s valuation. The 26-year-old will leave the Bees after 242 appearances, 70 goals, and 51 assists since joining in 2019. His imminent exit also follows Brentford's rejection of bids for Yoane Wissa, suggesting only one of their star forwards would be allowed to leave this summer.

Manchester United will now focus on completing personal terms and medical checks before finalising Mbeumo’s unveiling. The club is also expected to offload players to balance finances after their latest big-money addition. Mbeumo’s versatility across the front line will give Ruben Amorim tactical flexibility heading into the new campaign.
