‘Magic in his boots’ – What makes Wrexham star Paul Mullin special as Phil Parkinson jokes striker will have ‘highlights video’ on sale for Christmas

The Red Dragons knew what they were buying into when luring the fearsome No.10 away from Cambridge United in 2021 – with Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney helping to make that deal possible. Mullin has gone on to hit 88 goals for the Welsh outfit, with many of those strikes spectacular ones.

Parkinson has told FourFourTwo of his leading marksman: “Mulls is a goalscorer, but he’s not simply a penalty-box player – he’s got the ability to score audacious goals, when you look at his highlights video. I’m sure he’s selling that at Christmas! He can produce finishes where you think, ‘How has he got that in?’. That’s why he’s such an idol with our supporters. He’s got magic in his boots.”

Mullin is a fan favourite at SToK Racecourse, with Reynolds and McElhenney among his biggest supporters. The 29-year-old has found a way of balancing his professional and personal lives to the point that he can thrive both on and off the pitch.

He helped to fire Wrexham to a record-breaking promotion back into the Football League last season – as he hit 47 goals in all competitions – and has contributed to the Red Dragons riding high in League Two this term as they look to move another step closer to hitting the ultimate target of becoming a Premier League club.
