Savage 'loves to party' dig aimed at Neymar as Argentina president rubs salt in Brazil's wounds after comprehensive World Cup qualifying victory

The Albiceleste had plenty to celebrate on Tuesday, even before stepping onto the pitch against Brazil, as they had mathematically ensured their place in the 2026 World Cup after Bolivia and Uruguay played out a goalless stalemate. The celebrations continued late into the night in Buenos Aires as they secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over arch-rivals Brazil, despite missing the services of their talisman Lionel Messi.

Neymar, who had been expected to make his long-awaited return to international duty against Colombia and Argentina, had to excuse himself at the 11th hour due to a muscle injury that he picked up while playing for Santos. His absence didn’t go unnoticed, and Argentina’s president, Javier Milei, couldn’t resist taking a swipe at the Brazilian playmaker after his country downed the Selecao to cement their status as South America’s top footballing force.

Milei mockingly remarked: "Considering how much Neymar loves to party, it's strange that he missed this dance."

With 79 goals in 128 appearances for Brazil, Neymar remains one of the nation’s most prolific scorers. However, his frequent injury setbacks and long periods on the sidelines have raised concerns about his long-term future with the Selecao and especially in the 2026 World Cup.

Despite missing out on these crucial international fixtures, Neymar is expected to return to competitive action soon. However, he will miss Santos' Serie A season opener against Vasco da Gama on March 30 as the forward is not yet fully fit.
