Speaking in a recent interview, the agent of Malick Fofana revealed Liverpool would be the favoured destination if the young Belgium winger were to leave club side Lyon this summer.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fofana has impressed in Ligue 1 this season, registering 11 goals and five assists in all competitions, and has been linked with a summer move to the Premier League. Liverpool are expected to be more active in this summer transfer window than they were last year and have previously been linked with a move for the 20-year-old.

  • WHAT FOFANA'S AGENT SAID

Bobo Fofana, Malick's agent, told Africafoot: "The choice of heart would be Liverpool. He has the potential to enter the rotation, and above all, we would like to see him succeed African legends such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and El Hadji Diouf. Now, the choice of reason would be Newcastle, a well-structured club that could be a first step to gain experience before, perhaps, joining a club in the European top five.

"He has the profile to succeed in the Premier League. He possesses qualities similar to those of Manchester United's Amad Diallo, namely speed, impact, and the ability to create opportunities. There's no doubt he can make a splash. For him, this would be an opportunity to continue his development and, above all, to showcase his talent in a league that favors transitional play. However, he'll have to choose the right club, as competition is fierce across the Channel."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

While Fofana has Guinean and Filipino heritage, he made his international debut for Belgium in October as a late substitute in a 2-2 Nations League draw with Italy.

    WHAT NEXT FOR FOFANA?

While his future could be a major story in the summer transfer window, Fofana and Lyon still have two more Ligue 1 fixtures to fulfil before the end of the season. They take on Monaco on Saturday night before their final match against Angers.
