    WHAT HAPPENED?

Per Sky Italia, Liverpool reportedly submitted a €100 million (£83m/$104m) bid to sign Napoli star Kvaratskhelia months before the player completed a move to the French capital. The Reds did not intend to sign the Georgian winger immediately and were ready to let him play for Napoli in the 2024/25 campaign. They had planned to bring the player to Anfield in the summer of 2025.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Napoli, however, rejected the offer at that time as they were determined to retain their star player. Kvaratskhelia also had an offer from PSG last summer, but he reportedly refuted their offer before eventually signing on their dotted lines six months later. In January, the Merseyside club were reportedly prepared to battle it out with the Ligue 1 champions in the transfer market, but they never came up with a formal offer.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Since moving to Paris in January, Kvaratskhelia has appeared in 10 matches across all competitions for Luis Enrique's side where he has scored two goals and provided three assists.
