The Reds ran riot the last time they faced their rivals as they thrashed United 7-0 at Anfield in March this year. Gakpo opened the scoring for his club in the first half and soon completed his brace as the Merseyside club registered their biggest win against the Red Devils in history. The Dutch forward is now hopeful that his team can repeat that performance and register yet another thumping win over Erik ten Hag's side who are struggling to find their form in the ongoing season.
Getty ImagesSpeaking to reporters, the Netherlands international said, "It was a great game that one. We knew we had to win and after a good first half from both teams the second half we really dominated and scored a lot of goals. I scored just before half-time and I think just two minutes after half-time Darwin (Nunez) scored the second one and two minutes after I scored the third. It was good for us to score that quick after half-time and kill the game. It was amazing.
"At one point you are not really looking at the score, you just want to dominate and show your best and I think everyone had a really great game that day. Hopefully, we can repeat it."
United are dealing with many injuries and suspensions as they head into the crucial Premier League clash. They will miss the services of former captain Harry Maguire due to injury while current skipper Bruno Fernandes is ruled out of the match after picking up five yellow cards in the ongoing campaign.

GettyThere is no room for complacency for Jurgen Klopp's side who currently have a slender one-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the table. They would aim to extend their winning streak to four games in the Premier League as they face United at Anfield on Sunday.
