Juventus 'set up video call' with Man Utd to discuss Jadon Sancho transfer with Italian giants keen on winger

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Bianconeri are the latest club to express concrete interest in the 25-year-old winger, joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the race to secure his services. The Italian side are eager to assess the potential conditions of a move for the England international and are expected to formally open talks with United on Wednesday through video conferencing.

Sancho had looked destined for a permanent switch to Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Stamford Bridge. He contributed significantly during his time there, recording five goals and 10 assists across 42 matches in all competitions and playing a part in the club’s UEFA Conference League triumph. However, instead of paying a £25 million fee to make the deal permanent, the London club reportedly chose to settle for a £5 million penalty to send him back to Old Trafford. With just one year remaining on his current contract, United are now prepared to accept offers in the region of €20m (£17m), a massive loss on their original investment.

According to reports in Italy, Juventus are also believed to be exploring a potential swap deal to offset Sancho’s valuation. The Turin-based club are reportedly open to offering either Dusan Vlahovic or Douglas Luiz in exchange. Vlahovic, a 24-year-old Serbian striker who currently earns £215,000 per week, is among the players Juventus are keen to move on to ease their wage bill.

One potential hurdle in finalising any deal remains Sancho’s current salary. His £300,000-a-week wages are viewed as excessive by most clubs, including Juventus and Fenerbahce. That figure was also reportedly the primary reason Chelsea pulled out of a permanent transfer. To facilitate a move, Sancho may need to agree to a pay cut, or United might be forced to subsidise a portion of his wages if a loan deal is thrashed out. Negotiations in the coming days will likely address this sticking point.

United are eager to resolve Sancho’s future ahead of their pre-season preparations. With Juventus now stepping up their pursuit and Fenerbahce still in the mix, the decision-makers at Old Trafford hope the winger’s next destination will be confirmed soon.
