Joshua Zirkzee incoming! When Man Utd expect to complete €40m transfer for Bologna forward - revealed

Zirkzee is on the back of a spectacular season with Thiago Motta's Bologna and Manchester United, who have been on the hunt for a striker, are ready to strike a deal for the Netherlands international. As per reports, United are ready to trigger Zirkzee's release clause of €40 million (£34m/$43m) to sign the 23-year-old as a straight replacement for Anthony Martial, who left the club after 10 years.

As per Manchester Evening News, technical director Jason Wilcox and newly appointed sporting director, Dan Ashworth are the ones undertaking the signing of Zirkzee, and they are expecting the deal to be completed later in the month with the Red Devils' pre-season beginning on July 15. However, they will want Zirkzee to be available for the club's United States tour.

Zirkzee led Bologna to qualification for the Champions League with 11 Serie A goals last season, and United believe that he will be a good backup to Rasmus Hojlund, and maybe even challenge the Dane for a starting spot.

The striker's main focus for the time being will remain the Netherlands' Euro 2024 semi-final clash against England, with the 23-year-old likely to appear as a substitute.
