Jose Mourinho sends heatfelt goodbye message to Roma fans following sacking by Serie A side after poor run of results

The 60-year-old was dismissed from his role on Tuesday morning after a bad run of form that involved just one win in five Serie A matches and a Coppa Italia exit at the hands of city rivals Lazio last week. Daniele de Rossi will replace the former Chelsea manager until the end of the season, with i Giallorossi currently ninth in the table. Now, Mourinho has taken to Instagram with a heartfelt parting message to the club's supporters.

The former Real Madrid manager wrote on Instagram on Tuesday night: "Sudore, sangue, lacrime, allegria, tristezza, amoR, fratelli, storia, cuore, eternità." (Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sadness, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity).

Mourinho took over at Roma in May 2021 and led them to a Europa Conference League triumph a year later and then the Europa League final in 2023. The ex-Inter Milan manager has won a host of titles across Europe but his powers in the management game may be waning after this latest sacking.

Football fans will eagerly await Mourinho's next managerial post but in the meantime, Roma host relegation-threatened Verona on Saturday in Serie A as they attempt to close the five-point gap to the Champions League qualification places.
