Liverpool have confirmed that Alexander-Arnold will undergo a scan in a bid to discover the full extent of his injury, but Klopp is hoping for good news. He said when asked for an update on the Reds’ home-grown star: “I don’t know exactly. I asked him, he said it’s [his] hamstring. 'Not too serious’ is his opinion, but we obviously have to wait for the scans and then we will know more.”

Alexander-Arnold had inherited the captain’s armband for Liverpool against Villa, with skipper Virgil van Dijk serving a suspension on the back of the red card that he picked up at Newcastle, and the Reds were able to collect a 3-0 win that has extended their unbeaten start to the 2023-24 campaign.
