'Amazing to be back!' - Harry Kane sends heartfelt message to Spurs fans after return to north London with Bayern Munich in pre-season

Kane's time in Germany has been a familiar story for England's all-time leading scorer, with the striker netting a heapful of goals without winning a trophy. On his return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, his side did leave victorious, collecting a 3-2 win and winning the Visit Malta Cup, a pre-season trophy.

It was the first time Kane had played at Tottenham's stadium as an opposing player, although his involvement was minimal, playing 11 minutes, as he aimed to build up his fitness ahead of the new Bundesliga season. His love for his former club is still strong and he was eager to show his appreciation to the fanbase that cheered some of his greatest career moments. The 31-year-old was particularly emotional when Spurs fans sung their pre-match anthem before kick off.

After the final whistle, Kane went to greet his former colleagues and friends, before he posted on X showing his love for the day.

He said: "Amazing to be back at a place that will always be very special to me. Thanks to everyone for an incredible welcome. Great to get some minutes in the legs and step up the preparation for the season."

Kane will return to Germany and play one more friendly against Austrian side Tirol. This will be an even better opportunity to get more minutes in the tank, after coming back from a busy summer with England. He will look to continue his electric goal-scoring form from last year, where he netted 36 league goals, under new manager Vincent Kompany.
