Gio Reyna added to Borussia Dortmund's 'strike list' ahead of summer transfer window as Bundesliga giants run out of patience with enigmatic USMNT star

Reyna, who is still only 22 years of age, has been on Dortmund’s books since 2019. He made his debut at 17, breaking a youngest American debutant record previously held by fellow countryman Christian Pulisic, and is up to 137 appearances in total for BVB.

Injury issues have, however, held the talented playmaker back and stunted his progress. Starting berths have been hard to come by in recent times, while a forgettable loan spell at Premier League side Nottingham Forest was taken in last season.

With patience in Dortmund wearing thin, Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Reyna has now been placed on a “strike list” that will mean offers for his services are listened to in the next transfer window. A fresh start may prove beneficial to all concerned.

Reyna’s current contract has a little under 18 months left to run, with Dortmund needing to cash in now as the American playmaker looks to find a new challenge that will help him to rediscover a professional spark ahead of a home World Cup for the United States in 2026.
