    WHAT HAPPENED?

    The former Chelsea boss has made an immediate impact in her latest managerial post, with the United States steered to ultimate glory on French soil. A fifth Olympic crown was captured in Paris when seeing off Brazil 1-0 in the final.

    International Olympic Committee (IOC) rules dictate that coaches are not rewarded with medals when those working under their guidance savour the most glorious of triumphs on a global stage. Hayes had claimed that she was happy to leave France with memories to last a lifetime.

    She does, however, appear to have landed a medal – or at least borrowed one – with the 47-year-old striking an iconic pose in front of Paris’ most famous landmark. She has posted on social media: “Good morning USA. I’m gonna milk it for one week so forgive me.”
