The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has made a stunning impact since moving to the United States as a free agent. He has already inspired Inter Miami to Leagues Cup glory – scoring 10 goals in seven appearances – while also seeing them into the final of the U.S. Open Cup.

It has been a hectic few weeks for Messi, who was snapped up by Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham, with the 36-year-old being asked to produce moments of magic every few days. There is only so long he can handle such a schedule, with his workload needing to be managed carefully.

Inter Miami boss Tata Martino has admitted as much, with the Argentine hinting at handing his fellow countryman a much-needed break over the coming weeks. He has said: “You have to take into account the large number of games that we played in 45, 50 days … Leo and many other players are reaching an important physical limit and from today we will start to evaluate this – how do I face at least the next three games.”

Inter Miami’s next three games are set to see them face the New York Red Bulls, Nashville and LAFC, with the Florida-based outfit preparing to switch collective focus back towards MLS action in an unlikely play-off bid following a productive run of form in cup competition.
