Diogo Jota and brother Andre Silva honoured on Gondomar shirts for 2025-26 season in touching tribute as club shows off new kit

The image of each brother is incorporated into the design of Gondomar's yellow home jersey for this season, a touching tribute to "two sons" of the city. The names of both feature on the back of the home, away and third strips, with an infinity symbol that means they will never be forgotten.

Jota and Andre Silva were born in Porto and raised in Gondomar, located on the outskirts of the city. Jota joined the lower league club's youth ranks in 2005 and was there for eight years until being picked up by Pacos de Ferreira, then a top flight side, at the age of 16. As its most famous graduate, the Gondomar academy was renamed in honour of Jota in 2022. Andre was there from 2008 until 2011, at which point he joined Porto.

Alongside the images of the shirt shared on social media, Gondomar said: "This season, Gondomar Sport Club enters the field with a heart full of memories and feelings. Our new jersey brings in great the image of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, two sons of Gondomar who left us too soon, but who will live forever in the history of our club and our football.

"Every time our athletes put on this jersey, it's like stepping on the field with them. Because football is more than victories and goals, it's legacy, it's family, it's love for our land."

Liverpool are yet to play a home game since the fatal accident at the start of July, but the first is sure to be an emotional day. The Reds are scheduled to face Athletic Club in two back-to-back friendlies at Anfield on August 4.
