Diogo Dalot pulls out of Portugal squad to add to Man Utd woes after Matheus Cunha & Mason Mount injuries

Dalot joined up with the Portugal squad for their World Cup qualifier double-header against Armenia and Hungary, but has now been sent back to Manchester. The full-back has been ruled out following 'muscle discomfort', adding to the mounting number of headaches being faced by United boss Amorim. 

Dalot will join Cunha and Mount in the treatment room after both suffered hamstring injuries during the victory over Burnley last weekend. Dalot is an important player for Amorim, a regular starter who can play on either side at full-back. He missed six games towards the end of last season with a calf strain and played just a handful of minutes in the Europa League final defeat by Tottenham. 

The Portuguese FA said: "Diogo Dalot was dismissed due to muscle discomfort. Full-back Nuno Tavares was called up to the national senior squad this Thursday to replace Dalot. The international, who plays for Manchester United, complained of muscle discomfort and was released by the Health and Performance Unit. Tavares, 25, a Lazio player, joins the national team in Yerevan, traveling this Thursday from Rome to the capital of Armenia."

Rest and recuperation for Dalot, while Amorim will have his fingers and toes cross for some good news with the United boss coming under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season. The good news is that the international break has just started, the bad news is they face Manchester rivals City on September 14.
