Dele Alli is back on the grass! Ex-Tottenham star finds top corner with fearsome shot in training as he prepares for pre-season with Everton despite approaching free agency

Everton midfielder Dele Alli reposted a video of himself back working on the grass ahead of his long-awaited return from injury.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Dele has made just 13 appearances for Everton since joining from Tottenham in 2022. He was sidelined with a long-term groin problem last season but is back with the ball at his feet as he posted a video of him hitting the top corner with a fearsome shot in a training session. UEFA qualified coach 'Jazzi FC' also shared a clip of Dele taking part in a passing drill with some other players as he continues to build up his fitness.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
At the peak of his powers, Dele was one of the most exciting players in the Premier League at Tottenham and a regular in the England national team. He has opened up about his struggles with mental health since suffering a decline in performance, and looks like he is finally getting back to what he loves doing most as the 2024-25 campaign approaches.

DID YOU KNOW?
If Everton decide to keep Dele beyond his contract, they will have to pay a large fee to his former club Tottenham. They have been cutting it close with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules in recent years but the midfielder would help them as he counts as homegrown.

WHAT NEXT FOR DELE?
The 28-year-old's contract at Goodison Park is set to expire at the end of June, but Everton are reportedly ready to have another look at him in pre-season and then decide whether or not to offer him a new deal. He will have to prove himself pretty quickly if he is to remain in the top flight.
