David Raya discusses goalkeeping rivalry with 'magnificent' Aaron Ramsdale and insists he's not feeling the pressure at Arsenal

Since his loan move to Arsenal from Brentford in the summer, David Raya has replaced Aaron Ramsdale as the club's new first-choice goalkeeper after successfully managing to earn Mikel Arteta's trust. The situation has led to speculation about Ramsdale's future at the club and a suggestion he could move on after losing his place in the team.

Raya, recently, opened up about his relationship with Ramsdale and claimed that he is enjoying his time at the north London club.

Speaking to Arsenal.com, the Spaniard said, "It’s a big thing when another goalie comes to a club. Aaron had a magnificent season last year so I’m just here to help the team to win the games when the gaffer puts me in. My relationship with Aaron is really good. We’re teammates and try to make each other better in every single session. We don’t try to hear what the outside world is saying, just focus on the team.

"I’m enjoying every time I go out there, playing football and doing what I love, especially enjoying every single training session as well. It’s incredible to be part of this football club and hopefully, we can fight for the title. A club of this level, you cannot drop at any point. We want to fight and try to win as many titles as we can, so it’s very demanding. For me now, experiencing new things, it’s very demanding. The teams in the top six and top 10 are behind us so we have to keep on our toes and try to win every single match."

The Brentford loanee has appeared in 18 matches across all competitions thus far and has managed to keep nine clean sheets, including six in the Premier League. However, the 28-year-old hasfaced criticism for sloppy glovework including in the win over Luton Town. Arsenal won the game 4-3 but the goalkeeper made two horrible mistakes.

Arteta's side will aim to reclaim top spot in the league on Thursday as they take on West Ham United at Emirates. They are currently two points behind Liverpool after the Reds' 2-0 win over Burnley on Boxing Day.
