Could Lionel Messi and Inter Miami win the Premier League?! Sergio Aguero makes sensational claim over MLS club's chances in England as he hails former Argentina team-mate as 'the GOAT'

Messi has taken MLS by storm since arriving on a free transfer after leaving PSG. The Argentine secured a first major piece of silverware for his team last season in the Leagues Cup and has fired his team to the top of the Eastern Conference standings in the current campaign. The World Cup winner has smashed a host of records along the way and currently has 12 goals and nine assists in just 12 outings for Inter Miami in the 2024 season.

Messi's form has led his good friend and former Argentina international Aguero to speculate on what might happen if the 36-year-old old and his Inter Miami team were to play in the Premier League instead of MLS. Aguero, who won five Premier League titles with Manchester City during his career, feels that with Messi in the team there is every chance Miami could beat the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City to finish top of the pile.

He told Stake.com: "I think they would win the league. They have Messi that is the GOAT, and with him, even winning the Premier is possible."

There's no doubt that Messi is one of the greatest players ever to have graced the game, with the Argentine having beaten the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to pick up his eighth Ballon d'Or last year. Messi is going for more glory this summer too with Argentina at the Copa America. The world champions begin the defence of their trophy against Canada on Thursday.
