Christian Eriksen issues telling verdict on Thomas Frank's possible Tottenham move as outgoing Man Utd star addresses potential Spurs return

Denmark international Eriksen feels compatriot Frank is the "perfect match" for Tottenham, as he is the right person to "build" something at the north London team. The 33-year-old, who is set to become a free agent when his Manchester United contract expires this month, also said there has been no contact so far about potentially returning to Spurs.

He told Ekstra Bladet, via Sport Witness: "I think he [Frank] is the right coach for Tottenham. I have had Thomas at various times, and I think he is the perfect match for Tottenham, and it would be great if Thomas takes on that challenge. His personality, his way of playing and his way of being. And the club considering where they were last season – they won a trophy of course – but they are in the process of building something up, and I am sure that Thomas is a good man to bring in."

When asked about receiving an offer to return to Tottenham, Eriksen said: "No, not where we are now, so Thomas should call if something happens."

He stressed that Frank had not called him about a transfer either.

Tottenham appear to be closing in on signing Brentford manager Frank after sacking Ange Postecoglou earlier this month. The Dane could be a good recruit for Spurs as they seek to build on their Europa League success. Incidentally, after bringing Eriksen to Brentford back in 2022 for a short stint, a Tottenham return for the midfielder - who spent seven years at the club - is not a crazy idea but for now it seems unlikely.

Eriksen, who snubbed Major League Soccer and Saudi Pro League moves last year to stay at United, is now looking for a new club. His agent said the veteran still is "ambitious", while opening the door to a possible Eredivisie return for the ex-Ajax man.
