Chelsea told to sell 'petulant' Nicolas Jackson after 'inexcusable' red card at Newcastle threatens Blues' Champions League hopes

The Blues forward was given his marching orders following a VAR review after elbowing Newcastle's Sven Botman in the face in the 35th minute. That led to a pile-on from Chelsea fans on social media, with many laying into the 23-year-old for his "utter sh*te" actions.

@Iewdawg tweeted: "Sell Jackson in the summer. I’m out," and @CFC_Janty raged: "JACKSON HAS JUST COST US THE GAME AND POTENTIALLY UCL FOOTBALL."

@GoldbergCFC commented: "Nicolas Jackson is petulant and needs to have a long & hard think about his professionalism. It's utter sh*te."

And @willreyner added: "Top 5 completely over now. No available striker for the rest of the season. I’ve defended Jackson for ever even when he’s been shit but now he should have ZERO supporters at this club. It’s over."

Chelsea's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League have been dealt a big blow following Jackson's dismissal. Enzo Maresca's team, who are fifth in the division at the time of writing, are currently without a fit striker, so this red card could not come at a worse time. He will, however, be available for the Conference League final later this month.

Jackson will now miss Chelsea's remaining Premier League games this season against Manchester United and fellow Champions League hopefuls Nottingham Forest later this month.
