  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Gallagher's future at Chelsea remains uncertain as he is into the final year of his current deal and could be sold to help ease financial concerns. The Blues have been looking at potential replacements and have made Manchester United star Andreas Pereira their top choice, according to Globo. Chelsea have been in touch with his agent Kia Joorabchian and are willing to pay up to £35 million (€41m/$45m) for Pereira, while hoping to offload Gallagher for around £50m (€59m/$64m).

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Pereira is already believed to have an agreement with manager Marco Silva to leave Fulham this season after two years with the London club following his move from Manchester United. The Brazilian left Old Trafford after failing to nail down a regular place in the starting XI and has admitted he "didn't feel the love" during his time with the Red Devils.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Tottenham, Atletico and Aston Villa have all been linked with a move for Gallagher, while there have also been suggestions Chelsea could do a U-turn and try to agree a new contract with the England international.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GALLAGHER

Gallagher is currently taking a break after being part of the England squad for Euro 2024. The midfielder refused to discuss his future when asked during the tournament but will surely be keen to find out whether he does figure in the club's plans going forwards. Gallagher has been at Chelsea since the age of eight and captained the team on a regular basis last season due to injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
