Another Chelsea exit? Blues in talks with Napoli to sell Romelu Lukaku as Enzo Maresca bids to trim bloated Stamford Bridge squad

According to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, discussions between Chelsea and Napoli have been confirmed, with both clubs meeting on Thursday to deliberate on Lukaku's future. The Belgian striker, who has struggled to make a lasting impact since his return to Chelsea, has become a primary target for Napoli's new manager, Antonio Conte who has placed a reunion with the forward at the top of his priority list for the ongoing transfer window.

Napoli are keen to fulfill Conte's wish of bringing Lukaku to Italy and have entrusted their director of football, Giovanni Manna, to negotiate a deal with Chelsea. Manna, currently in London, is scheduled to meet with Chelsea executives this afternoon, where Lukaku’s agent will also be present. While a personal agreement between Napoli and Lukaku has reportedly been in place for some time, the only remaining hurdle is reaching a consensus with Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano had earlier confirmed that Napoli have already submitted a formal bid for Lukaku. The negotiations surrounding Lukaku are independent of another potential transfer involving Napoli's star forward, Victor Osimhen. Romano has indicated that Chelsea will only commence talks to sign Osimhen once the Lukaku deal is concluded. The Nigerian, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for several months, has reportedly informed Napoli of his desire to leave the club this summer and his wish will likely be granted.

With Conte eager to reunite with Lukaku, the outcome of today’s negotiations could have a significant impact on both clubs' plans for the upcoming season. During their time together in Serie A, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances, establishing himself as one of the top strikers in Europe.
