Chelsea to make big decision on future of incoming signing Marc Guiu - even before completing transfer from Barcelona

Chelsea reached an agreement to sign the Barcelona forward earlier this week in a £5 million ($6m) deal. Ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge, Spanish publication Sportclaims the Blues are unsure whether to keep him in their first-team squad next season or loan him out to further his development.

The report adds one option is to loan him to a side that will guarantee him more first-team minutes than at Chelsea, with Sevilla a possible destination for the 18-year-old. With the Blues in the market for a big-money striker signing, getting game time elsewhere may be a shrewd move for the Spaniard.

The Barcelona academy product made his first-team debut this season and went onto score two goals in seven games in all competitions. Barca youth coach Ivan Carrasco described the 6ft 2in teenager as a classic number nine and someone who exploits his "physical power".

Guiu, who has represented Spain at under-19 level, is expected to join Chelsea in the coming days. It remains to be seen if he will head out on loan or stay with Enzo Maresca's side for the 2024-25 campaign.
