With Lionel Messi and Neymar leaving PSG over the summer, Kylian Mbappe is undoubtedly the main man at the Parc des Princes, and this could well be the year where his numbers go truly stratospheric to Ballon d'Or contender level. It remains to be seen if Mbappe can finally lead PSG to Champions League glory, but Haaland has serious competition if he wants to retain the top-scorer accolade from last season.

For most of his career, Alvaro Morata's name has been synonymous with striking ineptitude among football's more generalist audience. However, he is silencing his doubters big time this season. As ever, he's getting into those prime scoring positions, but for a change, the Spaniard is finishing them off like all top strikers.

Julian Alvarez has become one of the first names on the City teamsheet this season after playing the role of effective back-up role to Erling Haaland, and is in red-hot form in the ongoing season.

Though signed as a striker, the World Cup-winning Argentine forward is enjoying great success in an attacking midfield position, supplying to Haaland in the aftermath of serious injury to Kevin De Bruyne.

Brazilian marksman Evanilson joined Porto in 2020 from Brazil’s second-tier club Tombense for a nominal fee of £8 million, and has since developed into a real talent. The 22-year-old attacker came off the bench to score a hat-trick as Porto rallied from a goal down to beat Royal Antwerp 4-1 on matchday 3.

Gabriel Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City last summer. He started explosively, but has struggled to show such prolific form in domestic circuit since then. However, he's off to a quick start in the Champions League.

Saka has established himself as the poster boy of Arsenal over the years having come through the youth ranks of the club. The Englishman is arguably the most important player for the Gunners, and will be looking to produce the goods in the Champions League as he looks to break into the so-called "World-class bracket" of players despite his tender years.

Lois Openda has gotten off to a flying start at Leipzig after earning his big-money move by scoring 21 goals for RC Lens in Ligue 1 during the 2022-23 season. At just 23 years of age, too, the RB Leipzig attacker may only get better and better under Marco Rose’s management and is doing some serious damage in the Champions League with his mazy dribbling, turn of pace, and potency up front.

After starring at the 2023 U-21 European Championships for Ukraine, versatile attacker Danylo Sikan has carried over his fine form to the club level, emerging as Shakhtar's most standout player this season.

Portugal international Joao Felix has been a revelation at FC Barcelona since joining on loan from Atlético Madrid with the Portuguese striker becoming a key player for the reigning La Liga champions in Europe, and has been instrumental in a number of goals.

Ghanaian winger, Osman Bukari has been on fire since the beginning of the season, and is making a mark in this Champions League, creating one goal and scoring a late equaliser for Red Star Belgrade in a 2-2 draw against Young Boys on Wednesday.

Despite Union Berlin's poor start to the season, Sheraldo Becker has continued his fine goal-scoring form from last season. As well as possessing unique qualities to score and create goals, the 28-year-old Suriname international is incredibly quick, agile, strong and a terrific workhorse off the ball and an influential presence on the break, which is the key to Union's counter-attacking style of play.

Japanese international Kyogo Furuhashi may not have been a known entity to most in Europe at the time of his transfer to Celtic from J1 League side Vissel Kobe back in 2021, but he has since been a huge hit at Celtic Park thanks to his goal contributions, sharp finishing skills, and the positive attitude to get on the ball and make things happen.

Mauro Icardi joined Galatasaray initially on loan in September 2022 after a difficult stint at Paris Saint-Germain. However, the 30-year-old centre forward has found the net at a magnificent rate for Gala, and his form saw the Istanbul giants make the move permanent in July.

He has already played a key role in the club's European success with three goals from four appearances in the Champions League qualifying rounds, and also delivered some clutch goals against top-level opponents in Manchester United and Bayern Munich during the group stages.
