'Two years of loving you' - Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema exchange anniversary messages as former Arsenal power couple celebrate relationship milestone

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Mead and Miedema have been dating since 2022 and have been celebrating their two-year anniversary together with a series of posts on social media. The two players have been team-mates at Arsenal since 2017 but will not feature together in the new 2024-25 campaign as Miedema is heading for pastures new after the club announced her departure at the end of last season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Miedema has left Arsenal after becoming unhappy at the club and enduring a tense relationship with manager Jonas Eidevall. The Dutch star has since admitted she would be willing to move away from the WSL, after discussions with Mead, but has made it clear her next team "has to play Champions League football." Miedema has been linked with a move to Manchester City but is yet to announce where she plans to play her football next season.

    Miedema has posted photographs of the couple on Instagram with the caption: "Still love how you keep me and everyone else around you happy all the time and thank you for keeping me going when needed."

    WHAT NEXT FOR MIEDEMA

    Miedema will officially become a free agent at the end of June and will be free to join a new club. The Dutchman is keen to find a new team in time for the start of pre-season, with the Women's Super League set to kick off on the weekend of the 21-22 September.
