More financial woes for Barcelona! Spanish giants forced to pay Las Palmas an additional €5 million in Pedri deal as money runs out

Barca met the final clause in the Pedri deal on Wednesday night, after the midfielder made his 100th appearance for the club. According to the agreement held with Las Palmas, the Blaugrana will now have to pay an additional €5m, according to Relevo.

The requirement comes at an inopportune time for the Blaugrana, whose financial woes have mounted significantly in recent years. La Liga has blocked the further usage of so-called financial "levers" that freed up cash from the precipice of bankruptcy in 2022.

The Barcelona president has asserted that his club will continue its financial recovery: "We will follow the strategic plane set out in 2021 and from which we have not deviated at any time because the Board of Directors and the Management Committee have moved in the same direction, together, always."

The Blaugrana will have to fork over the remaining fee in the Pedri deal, despite their financial situation worsening. On the pitch, the Blaugrana are set to face Villarreal on Saturday, with the aim of staying in a La Liga title race that seems to be slipping away.
