‘It was a nightmare’ - Arsenal star Frida Maanum’s mother opens up on horrific collapse incident during Conti Cup final against Chelsea as she shares positive update

The Norwegian midfielder went down on the ground off the ball and under no challenge during Arsenal's Conti Cup final clash against Chelsea on Sunday. The 24-year-old required oxygen after the fall, however, shortly after the incident, the club confirmed that the player was in a much better condition and would be monitored by the club's medical team.

Manuum's mother Liz-Heidi Leonhardsen, who was not present at Molineux during the match, revealed that she was watching the final from Norway and went through a nightmare after seeing her daughter's horrific fall.

Speaking to Norwegian media outlet VG, Manuum's mother said, "It was a nightmare to follow the whole thing on TV without knowing what was going on. Fortunately, I received a relatively quick update from a friend of hers who was at the match - Frida is doing well now and she is being followed up by the medical team at Arsenal."

After winning the Conti Cup title courtesy of a late strike from Stina Blackstenius, Jonas Eidevall's side will be next seen in action on April 14 as they take on Bristol City in a Women's Super League clash.
