  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Mikel Arteta brought in Leandro Trossard to break the deadlock in the Premier League match at Aston Villa and the Belgian repaid the trust by scoring the opening goal. The forward came in from the blindside of the defender and slotted it home leaving Martinez frustrated. A while later, Thomas Partey doubled the lead by squeezing it in the bottom right-hand corner. Although Martinez got his hands to it, the effort was not enough to prevent his side from going 2-0 down. Could he have done better? Definitely!

While Martinez had a bad day at the office, his opposite number David Raya made a remarkable save to prevent his side from going behind after a wicked deflection saw Amadou Onana's shot loop up in the air before rattling the crossbar. Ollie Watkins got a second bite of the cherry but the Spanish shot-stopper showed a quick reflex to get up and deny the striker from scoring the opener.
