'A slight issue' - Arne Slot reveals goalkeeper Alisson is a doubt for Bournemouth clash, with wantaway Caoimhin Kelleher on standby

Alisson has been the undisputed No.1 at Liverpool and has played every minute of the club's matches across all competitions this season thus far. His consistency has been evident in key encounters, including Liverpool’s recent 3-1 victory over AC Milan in the Champions League. However, Slot confirmed that the goalkeeper is facing a fitness challenge due to a minor muscle problem.

“Alisson is still a doubt if he can train today, so let’s wait [to see] if he can train,” Slot told reporters. “Then, if he can’t then he will probably not play as well, so we have to wait and see. He has a slight issue with one of his muscles and we are wondering if this game tomorrow comes too early or not. He didn’t take it from the Milan game, it happened a bit before. But after the Milan game he felt it more and more and now we have to wait and see if he’s ready to be in goal tomorrow or we have to wait a few more extra days."

If Alisson is unavailable, Kelleher is expected to take over in goal. The Republic of Ireland international has been a reliable deputy for Alisson in the past and could have another opportunity to showcase his talents but has previously claimed that he wants to leave to play regularly.

Despite starting the season on a high note, Liverpool faced a recent stumble with a surprising defeat to Nottingham Forest in their last league appearance. They have kept it tight at the back, conceding just two goals in five games in all competitions this season and the onus is now on Kelleher to keep a clean sheet against Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side at Anfield.
