Andre Onana drops hint on Man Utd future after sealing season-long loan to Turkish side Trabzonspor

Onana agreed to a move to Trabzonspor after falling down the pecking order at Manchester United. His loan comes with the Red Devils' blessing, with Ruben Amorim backing him to benefit from a fresh start. The Cameroonian, however, has made it clear he still sees Manchester as home. The Sun has reported that Onana's wife and children will remain in England while the goalkeeper starts a new challenge in Turkey. Onana's wife, Melanie Kamayou, has flown out to Turkey with her husband but is set to return to the UK and will only visit occasionally. 

The 29-year-old endured a difficult couple of seasons in England, struggling to meet expectations after his arrival from Inter. His loan follows United’s decision to bring in Senne Lammens, shifting their goalkeeping plans. Despite this, Onana remains under contract until 2027, keeping the door open for a return.

Onana made an instant impression in Turkey, being named Man of the Match on his debut despite an early mistake against Fenerbahce. He made eight saves in total and showed strong resilience for 10-man Trabzonspor. Sources close to the player say he is determined to rebuild his confidence and reputation this season.

Onana will now aim to steady his form and prove himself in the Turkish Super Lig. United, meanwhile, will monitor his progress as they assess long-term plans between the posts. If he impresses, the Cameroonian could yet find a way back into the Red Devils’ setup.
